A good news for water sports lovers. You can now have the fun of water sports in your very own City of Lakes. Goverdhan Sagar is the proposed sight for water sports after being signaled by Jaipur for which District Administration and Sports Committee of Udaipur have started working on the same.  Goverdhan Sagar and Badi lake were inspected for this purpose.

Administration concluded that Goverdhan Sagar is the appropriate site for water sports academy which is to be worked on PPP mode. Goverdhan Sagar’s spread over is 100×400 metres and the water level is at 9 feet. The lake covers a length of 1.4 kms. Initially it was decided to establish this academy in Jaisamand lake but was ruled out being very far from the city. For water sports, diesel boats are needed which cannot be operated in Badi lake due to opposition and also because of crocs in the lake.

Trainers team left for Bhopal: Swimming coach Mahesh Paliwal and Dileep Bhandari from the Sports Committee along with two trainers have left for Bhopal to collect necessary information needed for water sports academy. Bhopal has Indian Sports Authority, Sports Council Madhya Pradesh and three water sports academy of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The water sports academy to be opened in Udaipur will be the first of its kind in the entire region.

Adventure sports: The academy will provide training for Canoeing, Kayaking, Canoe Pola and other adventure sports for three hours each in morning and afternoon. The training will be imparted to  children in the age bracket of 12 to 16 years. The day time of the academy will be kept for the tourists. To promote tourism, 10a.m to 4p.m. is the time slab decided for adventure sports.
