WI Spinner Gudakesh Motie Rumoured to Join Lucknow Super Giants Ahead of IPL 2026 Season
Motie had gone unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. Later he signed for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL for PKR 1.1 crore (around ₹32 lakh). But after the travel problems, he decided to leave the tournament.
March 17, 2026: Gudakesh Motie is being linked with a move to Lucknow Super Giants before the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The left-arm spinner may replace injured all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga in the LSG squad. Motie recently pulled out of the Pakistan Super League 2026 because he felt tired after a difficult travel situation caused by the Middle East crisis.
Motie was also part of the West Indies cricket team squad in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The two-time champions were knocked out by India in the Super 8 stage at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After that match, the West Indies team could not leave India for many days because of the Middle East crisis. The players and staff were stuck in India for almost two weeks. Later, the International Cricket Council helped them travel safely back home.

Social media rumours link Motie with LSG
Motie’s name is now being widely discussed on social media about joining LSG. But there are no confirmed reports that he has signed for the franchise or taken part in trials. At this moment, it looks like a social media rumour. Still, he could be an option if Hasaranga misses the season due to injury.
Motie had gone unsold in the IPL 2026 auction. Later he signed for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL for PKR 1.1 crore (around ₹32 lakh). But after the travel problems, he decided to leave the tournament. Dunith Wellalage was then signed as his replacement.
In another update, Kolkata Knight Riders signed Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman. Muzarabani had earlier signed a PSL deal but later left it to join KKR. Now the Pakistan Cricket Board is planning legal action against the Zimbabwe fast bowler.
