July 3, 2025 - A three-match Test series (Frank Worrell Trophy) is currently being played between West Indies and Australia. Australia won the first match of the series by 159 runs. Now, the second Test will begin today, July 3, at the National Cricket Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada.

With the first Test, both teams have also started their journey in the fourth season of the World Test Championship (WTC). Meanwhile, Australia has announced their playing XI for the second Test. Right-handed batsman Steve Smith has returned to the team. Australia captain Pat Cummins shared this information.

Cummins Confirms Smith's Return

Cummins announced the playing XI for the second Test against West Indies on July 2. He confirmed that Smith, who missed the first Test owing to a finger injury, is now fit and will play in the second match.

Smith Replaces Inglis

Cummins also said that wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has been dropped from the team to make place for Smith in the playing XI.

Smith Still Recovering, Will Avoid Slips

Even though Smith is back, Cummins explained he will not be fielding in his usual position in the slips during this Test. He said, “We still need to manage his fielding a bit. Maybe he won’t stand in the slips often. He should be okay for spin bowling, but might need one more week to get his full agility back.”
