Playing their third ODI against Ireland, the women’s Indian cricket team set several new records with 435 runs; skipper Smriti Mandhana hits India’s highest ODI score; India clean sweeps series 3-0

January 16, 2024 - The Indian women’s cricket team set several new records yesterday, January 15, in their third ODI against Ireland. They registered their highest-ever and the fourth-highest score in Women’s ODI history. The host team posted a massive total of 435/5, which is the highest score by an Indian team in this format. Interestingly, the Indian men’s team has never reached this figure.

In response, Ireland was bowled out for 131 runs in 31.4 overs, and India won the match by 304 runs, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Top scorers who helped the team achieve this feat included captain Smriti Mandhana (135) and Pratika Rawal (154).

Mandhana (135 runs) completed her century in just 70 balls, marking the fastest century in Indian women’s ODI cricket history. This was Mandhana's 10th century in her ODI career which makes her the first Indian player to reach double digits in ODI hundreds.

Opener Rawal scored 154 runs off 129 balls, including 20 fours and one six. This is the third-highest score ever by an Indian woman cricketer in ODIs. Making her debut in 2024, Rawal has accumulated 444 runs in six ODIs at an average of 74, making it the highest aggregate in the first six matches for any Indian woman cricketer. She has surpassed England’s Charlotte Edwards (434 runs) in this regard. This was Rawal’s maiden ODI century.
