WPL 2026: Delhi Capitals Overtake Mumbai Indians Following Win Over RCB

 |

Delhi Capitals bounced back in WPL 2026 with a confident seven-wicket win over RCB, moving past Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants in the points table.

January 24, 2026: Delhi Capitals found themselves under pressure after managing only two wins in their first four matches of the Women’s Premier League. The situation changed quickly as the Jemimah Rodrigues-led side bounced back in style, registering back-to-back victories over the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The win against RCB on Saturday was a big boost, especially since Smriti Mandhana’s team had remained unbeaten until then.

Batting first at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara, RCB never really settled. The innings lacked rhythm and partnerships, with Mandhana standing out as the lone bright spot with 38 runs. The rest of the batting line-up struggled badly, as eight players were dismissed for single-digit scores. Nandini Sharma once again impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets to move to the top of the wicket-takers list this season.

RCB were eventually bowled out for just 109, with Chinelle Henry, Marizanne Kapp, and Minnu Mani taking two wickets each. Delhi Capitals’ chase began on a shaky note after losing Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee early. At 24/2, there was some pressure, but a calm and steady 48-run stand between Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt ensured a comfortable finish and sealed a convincing win for Delhi.

Delhi Capitals move up the table

Laura Wolvaardt played a key role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 42 off 38 balls to take Delhi Capitals home. Her national teammate Marizanne Kapp supported her well with 19 runs, as Delhi won the match by seven wickets. With this victory, Delhi climbed to second place on the points table, going past Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants.

Tight race as WPL nears business end

Delhi are now two points clear of Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz. However, the points table remains very close, and one loss could change the standings quickly as the Women’s Premier League moves into the business end of the tournament.
