January 14, 2026: Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a phenomenal innings against Gujarat Giants in the ongoing WPL 2026. While chasing 193 runs, the hosts faced early trouble, but the match turned completely once Harmanpreet walked out to bat at the DY Patil Sports Academy. She was well supported by Nicole Carey, who scored an unbeaten 38 off 23 balls, as Mumbai registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 71 off 43 balls. With this knock, she became the first Indian cricketer to complete 1,000 runs in WPL history. Overall, she is the second player to achieve this milestone after Nat Sciver-Brunt. UP Warriorz captain Meg Lanning currently stands third on the list of highest run-scorers in the tournament and is close to reaching the four-figure mark.

Gujarat post competitive total
Batting first, Gujarat Giants had a strong start as Georgia Wareham and Bharti Fulmali impressed in the middle. The Australian all-rounder played the anchor’s role, scoring an unbeaten 43 off 33 balls, while Bharti provided the late boost with a quickfire 36* off 15 deliveries. Earlier, Beth Mooney set the tone with a steady 33 runs.
However, Gujarat struggled during the middle overs, which proved costly. Debutant Ayushi Soni managed only 11 off 14 balls and was retired out to allow Bharti to accelerate the innings. The late surge helped Gujarat post a competitive total, which later proved insufficient as Mumbai scripted a record run chase.
Mumbai register biggest-ever WPL chase
Mumbai Indians registered their highest successful run chase in WPL history against Gujarat on January 13. Batting at number three, Amanjot Kaur set the momentum with a well-paced 40 before Harmanpreet Kaur took complete control of the chase. Gujarat’s bowling plans failed as the Mumbai captain dominated in all phases. Notably, this chase also stands as the second-highest in WPL history, with RCB holding the top spot.
