Indian Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal Taken to Hospital After SMAT Match
He is reportedly suffering from acute gastroenteritis; BCCI has not issued any official update yet
Udaipur, Dec 17, 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal was suddenly admitted to a hospital after falling ill. He had played a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match for Mumbai in Pune on Tuesday. After the match, the Indian opener became unwell and was quickly taken to the hospital. The BCCI has not yet made any official statement on the matter.
It has been reported that Yashasvi was admitted due to acute gastroenteritis. According to a national news outlet, he started having stomach problems a few hours after the match. He was taken to Aditya Birla Hospital, where doctors conducted an ultrasound and a CT scan. He has been advised to rest and continue treatment.
So far, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not shared any update on his condition.
Yashasvi Likely to Return in January
Team India is currently playing a T20 series against South Africa, but Yashasvi Jaiswal is not part of the squad. He is a regular member of the Indian Test team and recently scored a century against South Africa in an ODI. The demand for his inclusion in the T20 team is also increasing.
Yashasvi also scored a century against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, Mumbai failed to reach the final of the tournament. Although Mumbai defeated Rajasthan by three wickets on Tuesday, they missed out on a place in the final due to a lower net run rate.
In that match, Yashasvi scored 15 runs. Sarfaraz Khan impressed with a quick 73 off 22 balls, which caught attention before the mini-auction. He was later signed by Chennai Super Kings.
Yashasvi is expected to return to action in January next year. India will play an ODI series against New Zealand, giving him enough time to recover before the series begins.
