Udaipur, April 2, 2025: India's opening batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has made a big decision regarding his career. He has decided to leave his home team, Mumbai, due to personal reasons. Jaiswal has played for Mumbai for a long time, but now he has found a new team.

In a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Tuesday, Jaiswal stated that he wants to leave Mumbai and play for Goa, where he is also expected to take on the role of captain. The MCA has accepted his request to move to Goa.

Play for Goa

Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be seen playing for Goa in the 2025-26 season. An MCA official expressed surprise at his decision, saying, "This is unexpected. He must have thought it through before making this move. He requested us to release him, and we accepted his request."

Last Match for Mumbai

Jaiswal played his final match for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy from January 23 to 25. In that match, he scored 4 and 26 runs, while Mumbai suffered a historic five-wicket defeat against Jammu and Kashmir.

Goa Cricket Association Welcomes Jaiswal

Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Secretary Shamba Desai confirmed the move, stating, "He wants to play for us, and we welcome him. He will be part of our team from next season."

Likely to Captain Goa

Jaiswal may also lead the Goa team when he is not playing for the Indian cricket team. When asked about this, Desai said, "Yes, this is possible. Since he plays for India, we will discuss his captaincy based on his availability."

Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad

Jaiswal becomes the third cricketer to leave Mumbai for Goa after Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who made the switch in the 2022-23 season but later returned to Mumbai.

Impressive Test Career

Jaiswal made his Test debut for India in July 2023. So far, he has played 19 matches, scoring runs at an impressive average of over 52.
