500 Railway Stations to have WiFi by Next Year

PM Narendra Modi, on his maiden visit to Google HQ at Mountain View, California met with Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.

During the conversation with Modi, Pichai announced a proposal to introduce WiFi hotspots at 100 Railway Stations across India, through which broadband connectivity will be available at these stations.  This number will go up to 500 by next year.

Pichai also announced that very soon Google will roll out vernacular typing for ten languages for Android Users.

During Modi tour of the Google HQ, Pichai took him through navigation safety and Street View concepts of Google Earth.  Modi asked Pichai to pinpoint Khagaul in BIhar, near Patna, where Aryabhatta had an observatory.  During the conversation, Pichai also shared the fact that India was the country that had adopted Google Chrome more swiftly than users anywhere else in the world.
