Udaipur, March 12, 2025 - Airtel has signed a deal with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet to India. This is the first agreement of its kind in India. After Airtel’s announcement, Jio also partnered with SpaceX for Starlink internet in India. However, SpaceX still needs government approval to start selling Starlink services in India. The Home Ministry is still reviewing the application.
Airtel and SpaceX
Airtel may sell Starlink equipment in its retail stores and will offer Starlink services to businesses. They plan to connect schools, hospitals, and communities with Starlink. Airtel’s network will expand using Starlink’s technology.
Jio vs. SpaceX
The Indian government has decided to directly give satellite communication spectrum instead of auctioning it. Jio wanted an auction, but SpaceX wanted a direct allocation. The government agreed with SpaceX’s idea. Jio will sell Starlink solutions in its stores and online and will use Starlink to improve its network and services.
