The iPhone maker also suggested that this attack is probably aimed at "you"because of your identity or your actions
Apple has alerted iPhone users in at least 98 countries, including India, about a possible mercenary spyware threat resembling 'Pegasus'. Earlier in April 2024, Apple notified users in India and 91 other countries via email about the potential threat posed by a "mercenary spyware attack." The iPhone maker also suggested that this attack is probably aimed at "you" because of your identity or your actions.
The company highlighted that while it is difficult to achieve absolute certainty in detecting such attacks, Apple is highly confident in this warning and urges users to take it seriously. In its warning, Apple announced detecting an attempt to remotely compromise the iPhone tied to your Apple ID, indicating that "you are being targeted by a mercenary spyware attack.
According to information in the email notification reviewed by Reuters, the tech giant disclosed that attackers attempted to "gain remote access to the iPhone." The notification email characterized mercenary spyware attacks as uncommon and exceptionally sophisticated, surpassing typical cybercriminal activities or malware.
