BSNL Launches 5G Services; Free Upgrade Available
July 17, 2025 - BSNL has recently launched its 5G services in India under the name Q-5G (Quantum 5G). The State-run telecom company is now offering free upgrades to 4G/5G SIM cards for its users.
Existing BSNL 2G or 3G SIM users can now enjoy high-speed internet by visiting a BSNL Customer Service Centre (CSC) or any authorised retailer. This service is currently available in selected telecom circles across India. After a simple e-KYC process, BSNL also offers a doorstep SIM delivery option, making the upgrade process more convenient for users.
Upgrade to BSNL 4G/5G SIM Card
If you are using a BSNL 2G or 3G SIM card, you can upgrade it to a 4G or 5G SIM. BSNL is giving this upgrade for free. You can do this by visiting a nearby BSNL office or an authorised shop.
Take your Aadhaar card or any ID proof with you. Tell the staff you want to upgrade to a 4G or 5G SIM. They will do your KYC and give you a new SIM card. You can use it by following the steps they tell you.
Upgrade BSNL SIM Card Online
Now you can also get the BSNL 4G or 5G SIM card from home. BSNL has started a doorstep delivery service. You can get a new SIM or change your old one without going anywhere.
Go to BSNL’s new website. Fill in the form with your name, mobile number and PIN code. Choose prepaid or postpaid SIM. Enter the OTP to confirm. Do the KYC online. After this, BSNL will send the SIM card to your home.

If you have any questions, call BSNL helpline at 1800-180-1503. It is not clear yet if BSNL will charge for home delivery. Other networks like Jio, Airtel, and Vi are giving free home SIM delivery.
