Udaipur, February 8, 2025 - India's Science and Technology Minister, Jitendra Singh, announced that the Chandrayaan-4 mission will be launched in 2027. The mission aims to bring back samples of moon rocks to Earth. It will involve two launches of the LVM-3 rocket, carrying five components that will be assembled in space.

The mission will help scientists collect samples from the moon's surface. The launch will follow other key missions, such as Gaganyaan, India’s first crewed space mission, scheduled for next year. The Samudrayaan mission, planned for 2026, will explore the deep ocean with scientists going down to 6,000 meters.

Minister Singh also mentioned that Gaganyaan's first uncrewed mission, which will carry a robot named Vyommitra, will take place this year.

India's space program has grown rapidly over the last decade. New infrastructure, including a third launch pad and a new site in Tamil Nadu, is being built. The country's space economy, currently valued at $8 billion, is expected to grow to $44 billion in the next ten years.

The expansion includes reforms allowing private companies to participate, leading to greater innovation and global collaboration. India’s growing space capabilities are expected to continue making a big impact in the years ahead.
