October 23, 2026: HMD has launched a new feature phone, the HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition, designed especially for older users. Along with the familiar flip-phone design, it features an AI companion called Mary. Users can talk to Mary, ask questions and play games. The phone also has a dedicated button for quick access to the AI service.

The phone is priced at approximately Rs 10,100 in the UK. However, HMD has not yet announced an India launch.

The HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition is a special version of the HMD 2660 Flip, which launched in March 2025. The new model retains the original phone's design and basic hardware, while adding AI features for older users. For now, it is available in the UK in Cosy Black.

What Can Mary AI Do?

The main attraction of the phone is Mary, an AI companion developed by inTouch. It is designed to support conversations with older users. Users can ask Mary questions, chat with her and play games.

Mary can remember previous conversations, helping make future interactions feel more personal. It also speaks at a slower pace to give users more time to respond. The service is available 24 hours a day, according to the company.

Users can activate Mary by pressing a dedicated button on the phone. This makes it easier to access the AI service without navigating complicated menus or searching for apps.

However, the AI service is not completely free. Buyers get a five-hour free trial with the phone. After that, a monthly subscription of approximately Rs 2,100 is required to continue using Mary. Users can cancel the subscription at any time.

2.8-Inch Display With a Small External Screen

The HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition features a 2.8-inch QVGA main display and a 1.77-inch QQVGA external screen. Its flip design allows users to answer and end calls by opening and closing the phone.

The phone is powered by a Unisoc T107 processor and comes with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. It runs on the S30+ operating system.

This is a basic feature phone rather than a smartphone. It is designed for users who want to make calls, receive messages and access essential features without a large touchscreen or multiple apps.

0.3MP Camera, FM Radio and Headphone Jack

The phone has a 0.3MP rear camera with an LED flash. It is designed for basic photography rather than the advanced camera features found on modern smartphones.

Other features include speakers, two microphones, an FM radio and an MP3 player. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headphones.

Removable Battery and 4G Connectivity

The HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition has a removable 1,450mAh battery. According to the company, it offers up to 8.1 hours of talk time on a single charge. Actual battery life will depend on network conditions and usage.

Connectivity options include 4G, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB Type-C charging port. The phone also has an IP54 rating, which provides limited protection against dust and water splashes. However, it is not waterproof.

The phone measures 198.9 × 55 × 19mm when closed and weighs 136.4 grams.

HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition Price and Availability

The HMD 2660 Flip Senior Edition costs approximately Rs 10,100 in the UK. The price includes a five-hour trial of the Mary AI service. After the trial, users must pay around Rs 2,100 per month to continue using the service.

The phone is designed for people looking for a simple flip phone for older family members, with the added convenience of AI-powered conversations. However, buyers should consider the ongoing subscription cost before purchasing it.

For Indian consumers, availability remains uncertain. HMD has not announced an India launch, so buyers will need to wait for official information about local availability and pricing.
