Honda Rebel 500 recall in India affecting 96 motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025

October 2, 2026: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced a recall for a limited number of Honda Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured in India in 2025. The company has identified a potential assembly defect in motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025.

According to Honda, the handle-lock fixing nut on some Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured during this period may not have been tightened to the specified torque. This could cause the screws to loosen over time and potentially affect steering movement. However, Honda said that no incidents related to this issue had been reported in India as of September 30, 2026.

How Many Rebel 500s Are Under the Recall in India?

According to Honda, a total of 96 Rebel 500 motorcycles were sold in India during the specified production period. This recall is part of a global recall campaign. Although no accidents or related incidents have been reported in India, Honda will replace the handle-lock-related parts on all affected motorcycles as a precautionary measure.

Handle-Lock Screws to Be Replaced Free of Charge

Honda will replace the handle-lock fixing nut and related parts on the affected motorcycles free of charge. Customers will not have to pay anything for the repair, and the recall service will be provided free of charge even if the motorcycle's warranty has expired. Therefore, owners of affected Rebel 500 motorcycles do not need to worry about their warranty status.

When Will the Recall Campaign Start?

The recall campaign in India will begin on November 1, 2026. The work will be carried out at designated Honda BigWing dealerships. The company's representatives will contact affected customers by phone, SMS or email. An appointment will then be scheduled so that the motorcycle can be taken to the dealership at the customer's convenience.

How Will Rebel 500 Owners Know If Their Bike Is Under the Recall?

If you own a Honda Rebel 500, you can check the recall status using the motorcycle's VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number. The VIN can be entered in the recall campaign section of Honda's website to check whether the motorcycle is covered by the recall.

If the motorcycle is included in the affected list, Honda has advised customers to contact their nearest BigWing dealership and schedule an appointment for the necessary repair.

Important for Rebel 500 Owners

Although no incidents related to this issue have been reported in India so far, affected owners should get their motorcycles checked and have the necessary parts replaced within the specified period. The issue involves the handle-lock assembly, which is related to the motorcycle's steering.

The recall applies only to Honda Rebel 500 motorcycles manufactured during the specified production period. Therefore, not every Rebel 500 is covered by this campaign. Checking the recall status using the motorcycle's VIN is the most reliable way for owners to confirm whether their bike is affected.
