New Kawasaki Z650 S motorcycle featuring updated Sugomi-inspired styling, redesigned headlights and a 4.3-inch TFT display

November 04, 2026: Kawasaki has launched the new Z650 S in India at an ex-showroom price of INR 7.59 lakh. The new variant follows the company's popular Sugomi design philosophy and features updated headlights, taillights and bodywork. It also gets a new TFT display with smartphone connectivity. Deliveries of the motorcycle have already started.

The new Z650 S is essentially a design update of the standard Z650. Like Kawasaki's Z900 and Z300 models, it carries the influence of the brand's Sugomi design philosophy. However, the company has not made any major changes to the engine or other mechanical components.

New Headlight and 4.3-inch TFT Display

The Kawasaki Z650 S features redesigned headlights and taillights. The headlight design takes inspiration from the Z900, giving the motorcycle a refreshed appearance. The cockpit has also been updated with a new 4.3-inch TFT display.

The new display supports smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, adding more convenience for riders. The motorcycle will be available in a single White/Green colour option. Buyers can also opt for a Quickshifter as an additional accessory.

No Change in the 649cc Engine

The new Kawasaki Z650 S continues to use the existing 649cc parallel-twin engine. It produces a maximum power of 68.25hp and peak torque of 64Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The suspension setup remains largely unchanged, with an RSU fork at the front and a Back-Link monoshock at the rear. However, Kawasaki has revised the braking hardware. The diameter of the two front discs has been reduced from 300mm to 272mm, while the rear disc size has decreased from 220mm to 186mm.

INR 33,000 More Expensive Than the Standard Model

The updated design and features have also resulted in a slight increase in the motorcycle's weight. The Kawasaki Z650 S weighs 193kg, compared with 188kg for the standard Z650. This makes the new variant 5kg heavier.

In terms of pricing, the Z650 S costs INR 33,000 more than the standard model. The Kawasaki Z650 is priced at INR 7.26 lakh (ex-showroom), while the new Z650 S is available at INR 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

The updated design, TFT display and smartphone connectivity are the main highlights of the new model. However, since there are no major changes to engine performance, the Z650 S mainly serves as a design and feature update to the existing motorcycle.
