Mercedes-AMG GT SUV Unveiled With 1,169 HP and 700 km Range
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its all-electric GT SUV with up to 1,169 hp, a claimed range of 700 km and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Explore its variants, features, charging capabilities and India launch details.
October 10, 2026: Mercedes-AMG has introduced a new electric performance SUV, the GT SUV, to the global market. The top-spec GT 63 produces up to 1,169 hp of power and 2,000 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. The company claims a driving range of up to 700 km on a single charge.
The new five-seater electric SUV is built on Mercedes-AMG’s AMG.EA electric platform. It will be available in three variants: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63. The GT 53 is expected to arrive first, while the more powerful versions are scheduled to launch in spring 2027.
Sporty Design With Star-Shaped LED Daytime Running Lights
The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV measures 5,084 mm in length, 2,001 mm in width and 1,656 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. At the front, the SUV features AMG’s familiar vertical-slat grille and the Mercedes star emblem. Both can be illuminated, while the headlights feature star-shaped LED daytime running lights.
The front bumper features active air flaps that open when additional cooling is required. From the side, the sloping roofline, prominent wheel arches and frameless windows give the SUV a sporty appearance. At the rear, it features six round taillights. Buyers can also opt for a light strip extending across the full width of the rear.
The GT 55 and GT 63 come with an active rear spoiler. At speeds of up to 150 km/h, the spoiler remains aligned with the roofline. Its angle adjusts according to the vehicle’s speed and driving conditions. Mercedes-AMG claims a drag coefficient of 0.28 for the GT 53 and 0.27 for the GT 55 and GT 63, highlighting the focus on aerodynamic efficiency.
The main boot offers up to 607 litres of luggage space, while the front storage compartment, commonly called a frunk, provides an additional 78 litres.
More Than 60 Colour Options and a Technology-Focused Cabin
Mercedes-AMG will offer a personalisation programme that allows buyers to customise the SUV according to their preferences. More than 60 exterior colour options will be available, along with AMG forged alloy wheels featuring different colour accents.
The available colours include Matte Vanadium Silver, Matte Copper and Matte Black. Buyers can also choose Angel Blue, Sunny Lime or Orange Flame accents for the matte-black wheel rims, allowing them to create a more personalised look.
Inside, the SUV features a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen angled towards the driver. A separate 14-inch display for the front passenger is available as an optional feature.
The AMG Performance steering wheel includes paddles for adjusting energy recuperation during braking. The cabin also features door panels with floating armrests, diamond-pattern stitching and ambient lighting that can be coordinated with the displays and control systems.
The infotainment system runs Mercedes’ latest MBUX software, based on the MB.OS operating system. It integrates AI-powered services such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini.
The SUV also features three dedicated AMG applications. The AMG Performance Menu provides information about power output, tyre temperature and the Active Aero system. AMG Set-up allows drivers to customise steering-wheel controls and aerodynamic settings. Meanwhile, AMG Track Pace records lap times and vehicle performance data. The head-up display can also show recommended braking points and racing lines.
Other features include an electrically dimmable panoramic glass roof, AMG Performance seats and a Burmester 4D sound system. Buyers can also opt for a dashcam that combines driving footage with vehicle performance data.
Three Variants Deliver Up to 1,169 HP
The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV will be offered in three versions with different electric powertrains.
The entry-level GT 53 uses two synchronous electric motors, with one on each axle. It also features a two-speed transmission at the rear. The GT 53 produces 544 hp and 800 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 250 km/h.
The GT 55 and GT 63 feature three electric motors, including two axial-flux motors at the rear and one motor at the front. The front motor can be disconnected when it is not required, helping reduce energy consumption.
The GT 55 produces 816 hp and 1,860 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The range-topping GT 63 delivers 1,169 hp and 2,000 Nm of torque, completing the same sprint in just 2.7 seconds. With the optional Driver’s Package, the GT 55 and GT 63 can reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
Up to 700 km Range and Rapid Charging
The three variants also differ in battery capacity. The GT 53 gets a 106 kWh battery, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 668 km. The GT 55 and GT 63 use larger 128 kWh batteries, offering a claimed range of up to 700 km.
All three variants use 800-volt electrical architecture. The GT 53 supports DC fast charging at up to 600 kW, while the GT 55 and GT 63 support charging at up to 710 kW.
Mercedes-AMG estimates that the battery could charge from 10% to 80% in around 11–12 minutes when connected to a compatible high-power charger. However, the company has clarified that these figures are preliminary. Actual charging times will depend on the charger, battery temperature and other conditions.
Rear-Wheel Steering and New Active Suspension
All versions feature rear-wheel steering, allowing the rear wheels to turn under certain conditions to improve manoeuvrability and handling.
The SUV also introduces AMG’s new Active Ride Control Plus suspension technology. It comes as standard on the GT 63. According to the company, the system uses hydraulic units instead of conventional anti-roll bars to help control body roll and pitching during acceleration and braking. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also standard on the GT 63.
In the three-motor versions, drivers can adjust throttle response, cornering behaviour and traction control using a dial on the centre console. The AMG Force Sport Plus mode simulates V8 engine sounds and gear changes, while the GT 53 features a simulated six-cylinder engine sound.
Mercedes-AMG GT SUV India Launch: What to Expect
Mercedes-AMG has not officially confirmed whether the GT SUV will launch in India. Its expected price, launch date and variant availability in the country remain unknown.
If the SUV arrives in India, its combination of up to 1,169 hp, a 0–100 km/h time of 2.7 seconds and a claimed range of up to 700 km could make it an exciting option for buyers looking for a high-performance luxury electric SUV.
The company has not announced Indian prices, so there is currently no confirmed amount in Indian rupees (₹). Any estimate of its potential Indian price would be speculative until Mercedes-AMG releases official details.
