November 07, 2026: Motorola has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Motorola Signature 27, featuring a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, Google Gemini AI, a display with up to 12,000 nits of peak brightness and a 7,000mAh battery. The company claims that it is its most advanced smartphone yet. The phone was announced on Thursday, November 5. One of its biggest highlights is that it will be the first Motorola smartphone to feature GrapheneOS support.
200-megapixel camera with 100x zoom
The Motorola Signature 27 features a quad-camera setup. On the rear, it has a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA L910 primary sensor, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. On the front, there is a 50-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
The 200-megapixel periscope camera supports 100x Super Zoom Pro, allowing users to capture distant subjects. It also offers 3x optical zoom for natural-looking portraits. The primary camera uses Sony's LYTIA L910 sensor with LOFIC technology, which Motorola claims can deliver brighter and more balanced videos, even in low-light and challenging lighting conditions. A dedicated EVS action sensor is also included to capture fast-moving subjects more clearly.
The camera system supports Dolby Vision video recording. Its AI-powered Video Enhancement Engine is designed to improve colour, contrast and dynamic range. Users can also record 4K videos using the front 50-megapixel camera. Motorola further claims that the camera system has received the DXOMARK Gold Label for image quality and performed ahead of several competing Android and iOS smartphones launched in 2026.
12,000 nits display and Snapdragon processor
The Motorola Signature 27 features an Extreme AMOLED Duo display with Tandem technology. The panel uses two emissive layers to improve brightness, colour quality and power efficiency. It offers up to 12,000 nits of peak brightness, 1.5K resolution and Dolby Vision support. Motorola claims that the display is up to 34% more power-efficient than conventional AMOLED panels and can offer up to 121% longer lifespan.
For performance, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform. It also features an ArcticMesh cooling system to manage heat during heavy usage and extended gaming sessions. The cooling system uses a thermal chamber that is 40% larger than the previous generation.
The phone also features a six-antenna design and Wi-Fi 8 compatibility. According to Motorola, this setup can deliver up to twice the Wi-Fi speed compared to the previous generation.
Gemini AI, Sign-to-Text and video creation features
The Motorola Signature 27 is designed around Google's Gemini Intelligence and comes with several AI-powered features. One of them is Rambler, which can convert natural speech into clear and organised messages. It can arrange spoken words into paragraphs or bullet points while removing unnecessary words and repeated phrases.
Another notable feature is Sign-to-Text. Using the front camera, it can translate American Sign Language (ASL) into written English in real time. The phone also supports video creation and editing through Google's Gemini Omni using natural-language instructions. Users can also create soundtracks through prompts with the Lyria feature.
7,000mAh battery and Bang & Olufsen audio
The Motorola Signature 27 packs a 7,000mAh battery, which the company claims is 35% larger than the previous generation. It supports 90W TurboPower wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Motorola claims that just 12 minutes of charging can provide enough power for a full day of use.
For audio, the smartphone features Bang & Olufsen technology. Motorola says it is currently the only smartphone in its lineup to feature this audio technology. The device also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protection and an aerospace-grade aluminium frame.
In terms of durability, the phone has military-grade durability certification, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Motorola's first GrapheneOS smartphone
One of the biggest highlights of the Motorola Signature 27 is its GrapheneOS support. GrapheneOS is an open-source operating system based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), with a strong focus on security and user privacy.
Motorola is developing the smartphone in collaboration with the GrapheneOS Foundation. The company claims that the Signature 27 will be its first smartphone to feature this operating system, making privacy and security key highlights of the device.
