November 11, 2026: The uncertainty surrounding the OnePlus 16's launch in India may soon be eased. A tipster has claimed that the company's Indian officials recently held a closed-door meeting in Mumbai, Maharashtra, where the phone's potential India launch was discussed. Meanwhile, the smartphone's possible Indian price has also been leaked online. If the report is accurate, the new flagship could cost up to ₹1.40 lakh.
In a post on X, tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) claimed that OnePlus India officials recently held a closed-door meeting in Mumbai. According to him, the launch of the OnePlus 16 in India was discussed during the meeting. If this report is accurate, there is still a possibility that the smartphone could make its debut in the Indian market.
Why were doubts raised about the OnePlus 16's India launch?
Earlier, a report claimed that OnePlus was changing its product strategy. As a result, the company might decide not to launch its next-generation flagship, the OnePlus 16, in India. Instead, the OnePlus 16R could be the company's main attraction in the Indian market during 2026–27.
However, the company has not officially announced any such change in its strategy. Similarly, OnePlus has not confirmed the India launch of the OnePlus 16. Against this backdrop, news of the reported meeting has renewed speculation about the phone's Indian debut. However, it remains unclear what exactly was discussed or decided during the meeting.
OnePlus 16 price in India could reach ₹1.40 lakh
A report by Smartprix about the possible Indian price of the OnePlus 16 claims that the smartphone could cost between ₹1.30 lakh and ₹1.40 lakh. If this estimate is accurate, the new flagship could see a significant price increase compared with its predecessor.
Currently, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant of the OnePlus 15 is listed at ₹84,999 on OnePlus India's online store. Meanwhile, the top-end variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at ₹93,999. Compared with these prices, the reported price range of the OnePlus 16 would represent a substantial increase.
The OnePlus 16 was launched in China on October 12. Its base variant, featuring 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, is priced at 5,999 yuan, equivalent to approximately ₹86,000. This suggests that the reported Indian price could be considerably higher than the Chinese price.
Possible specifications of the OnePlus 16
The OnePlus 16 launched in China is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Built using a 2nm process, this octa-core chipset is expected to be one of the key highlights of the smartphone's performance.
In terms of display, the phone features a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 185Hz. This could offer a smooth experience while gaming, scrolling and navigating the interface.
The smartphone also features a large 9,000mAh battery. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
However, it remains unclear whether the Indian variant will have the same specifications, storage options and pricing as the Chinese version. Buyers will have to wait for an official announcement from OnePlus, particularly regarding the reported Indian price of ₹1.30 lakh to ₹1.40 lakh.
