PM Hails Successful Launch of GSLV-F17 Carrying EOS-05

Sept 4, 2026 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, September 4, hailed the successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05, India’s first-ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit. He called it yet another outstanding achievement by ISRO and a proud moment for the Nation.
The Prime Minister said it is a reflection of the excellence, innovation and growing capabilities that define India’s space sector.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “The growing partnership between ISRO and Indian industry is adding new strength and scale to our space programme and expanding India’s capabilities across the entire space ecosystem."
The GSLV rocket was launched from the spaceport in a pre-dawn mission on Friday, September 4, from Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota. The rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:55 am IST.
According to Thomas Kurian, Mission Director for the GSLV-F15 rocket mission, the advanced Earth observation satellite EOS-05 (the Geo-Imaging Satellite) is the heaviest satellite ever launched by GSLV into a GTO or sub-GTO orbit.
