Police Gears to Impede Crime, Adhere to Technology and Transparency
An Interstate Coordination Conference led by the Director General of Police from the neighboring states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh was held today in Udaipur. The objective of the conference was to discuss effective alternatives to reduce criminal activities in all three states by adapting transparency and technology by the department.

The meeting was held at the RSMML auditorium. Headed by DGP of Rajasthan Harish Meena, Chitranjan Singh of Gujarat and Nandan Dubey of Madhya Pradesh, the event also hosted several senior ATS and CID officers from the three states.
Harish Meena said that the main issue discussed in the meeting was to control organized and interstate crimes. He told the officials that if the police of all three states work in coordination and use modern techniques of communication, catching criminals will become easier and the crime rate will be reduced.
Other matters that were also discussed during the meeting included the smuggling of illicit liquor, prevention of cattle transportation for slaughtering, problems related to national security and their solutions, Naxal activities and prevention of robberies.
Rajasthan police has developed an online database of criminals which includes their name, address, photograph and other detailed information. This move attracted praise from Chitranjan Singh, DGP Gujarat who also expressed his interest in utilizing this technique in Gujarat.
Singh said that as there is a complete liquor ban in Gujarat, strict action should be taken against its smuggling from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He talked about the advances have been made to effectively control child trafficking from Rajasthan for using child labor in the BT cotton fields of Gujarat, acknowledging the improved coordination between Rajasthan and Gujarat police as the primary reason which has led to the capture of many traffickers. Singh also stressed on the need of such regular sessions of police officials.
Information on various attempts made to control crimes was also provided through Powerpoint projection during the meeting.
Nandan Dubey, DGP, Madhya Pradesh also mentioned the importance of such interstate sessions for all police officials, from officers of the rank of IGP to the police stations, in order to improve the coordination for reducing crimes. He also laid emphasis on spreading awareness about controlling ‘motana’ and prevention of human trafficking for labor in the BT cotton fields.
Dubey also brought to light the problems encountered on the border areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh where maximum residents are tribal and the category of crime differs. In these places, robberies are prominent and controlling them would require the coordination of Gujarat and Rajasthan police.
Sharad Kaviraj, who is in charge of the State Crime Record Bureau, said that an online system is developed for tracking criminals and online database sharing between the three states will soon begin.
Other dignitaries which were present for the occasion included the ADG of Rajasthan Dalpat Singh Dinkar, Alok Tripati and K.K. Sharma, M.R. Krishna from Madhya Pradesh, P.P. Pandey of Gujarat, Police Commissioner of Bhopal P.K. Maheshwari, S.S. Trivedi and Raju Bhargav from Gujarat, D.L. Jain from Jodhpur as well as all Police Superintendents of the Udaipur Division.
