Priyanka Chopra to launch Bumble Dating App in India

Bumble, the pioneer in single platform for friend-finding, dating as well as career building is now set for a year end launch in India.  The App, with both English (Hinglish) and Hindi versions, will be launched on both Android and iOS platforms simultaneously.  The App will also showcase yet-to-be-announced security features, apart from the vanilla profile moderation and photo verification check offered on other platforms.

Indian actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist Priyanka Chopra, has been roped in by Bumble for the India launch.  Priyanka has earlier worked with Bumble on the launch of Bumble Bizz, the business networking feature.

Bumble and its rival Tinder are already engaged in a court battle after Bumble sued Match Group – Tinder owner of fraudulently obtaining its trade secrets.  Tinder has recently launched a Bumble like feature, which allows women to initiate conversations.  This was Bumbles USP on its platform.

As reported in media, Bumble execs said that they have building a team in India for the last nine months and their marketing strategy and focus will be major metropolitan areas.  They are looking towards a launch at the end of 2018, which is likely any week now.

India, having tipped off US as the second largest mobile phone market, has already been seeing bitter rivalry in the mobile equipment market with Apple, Samsung fighting for the bigger pie.  Launching an India centric dating and social app, where the only competition Bumble has is Tinder, makes business sense for the company.  Though its has been a challenge for such apps, looking at the cultural considerations in India, the environment is changing.
