December 27, 2024 - WhatsApp users can now scan documents using the camera. The messaging platform has launched a unique in-app scanning feature for its new iOS update version of up to 24.25.89. With this feature, users can directly scan documents from its Document Sharing menu. So no need to depend on other Apps for this service.

How to scan:

  • To access the new feature, users first need to open a chat and then go to the sharing menu. From there, click on the Documents option.
  • Next, once you see the camera option, tap it to open and click on Scan to activate the camera.
  • Use the camera to capture the document and scan it.
  • Preview the photo; make the necessary adjustments.
  • Crop the document, adjust contrast and brightness.
  • Then send the scanned document directly to an individual chat or group.

This feature is currently available only for iOS users who can download the latest WhatsApp for iOS 24.25.89 update from the App Store. Android users may have to wait some more time before this feature is available for them.

Additionally, thanks to another new feature, WhatsApp users may now add Augmented Reality (AR) backdrops, effects and filters during video calls. With settings like the Goof Face Effect, Touch Up Mode, Low Light Mode and other adjustable backgrounds, this function is accessible through the camera's wand icon.
