October 11, 2026: Xiaomi has showcased the Xiaomi 18 Pro in India for the first time at the India Mobile Congress 2026. The company has also confirmed that the Indian variant will feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. With this announcement, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could compete with upcoming flagship smartphones such as the iQOO 16 and Motorola Signature 27.

However, Xiaomi has not yet revealed the phone's official launch date, price in India or complete specifications. For now, the specifications of the Chinese variant provide an idea of what users can expect from the upcoming flagship.

Familiar Design With an Eye-Catching Rear Display

At first glance, the Xiaomi 18 Pro's design does not appear to be significantly different from that of its predecessor. The rear camera module houses the camera lenses and other components. It also features a secondary display, one of the standout features of Xiaomi's Pro series.

Users can view notifications and widgets on the small rear display, allowing them to check important information without turning on the main screen every time.

The blue variant showcased at the India Mobile Congress is known as Starry Blue in China. Its rear panel features a subtle shimmering finish that becomes more noticeable when light falls on it. When viewed directly, the colour appears relatively understated, giving the phone a distinctive yet refined look.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Chipset

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Indian variant of the Xiaomi 18 Pro will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. This could make the phone one of the early devices to adopt Qualcomm's new flagship processor platform.

The processor is expected to play an important role in gaming, multitasking and running demanding applications. However, the exact chipset configuration and real-world performance of the Indian variant will become clearer once Xiaomi releases more details.

Xiaomi 18 Pro: Expected Display and Camera Specifications

According to the specifications of the Chinese variant, the Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. If these specifications remain unchanged in India, the display could offer smooth scrolling and improved visibility in bright outdoor conditions.

The Chinese model also features a triple rear camera setup, comprising:

  • 200MP primary camera: Supports optical image stabilisation (OIS).

  • 200MP periscope telephoto camera: Includes OIS for improved stability when capturing distant subjects.

  • 50MP ultra-wide camera: Designed for capturing landscapes and wider scenes.

  • 50MP front camera: For selfies and video calls.

The 200MP periscope telephoto camera could be particularly useful for photographing distant subjects. However, actual image quality will depend on factors such as the camera sensors, lenses, image processing and software optimisation.

7,000mAh Battery With 100W Fast Charging

The Chinese variant of the Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery. It reportedly supports 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging and 27W wired reverse charging.

The combination of a large battery and fast charging could make the phone appealing to heavy users who rely on their devices for gaming, streaming and multitasking. However, actual battery life will depend on factors such as screen brightness, network conditions and usage patterns.

Android 17-Based HyperOS 4 and Storage Options

The Chinese variant runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17. It is also expected to be available in configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

However, Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Indian variant will offer the same software version, RAM configurations and storage options. These specifications should therefore be treated as details of the Chinese model rather than confirmed features of the Indian version.

Xiaomi 18 Pro India Launch Date and Expected Price

Although Xiaomi showcased the Xiaomi 18 Pro at the India Mobile Congress 2026, the company has not yet announced its official launch date, price in India or complete specifications.

As a result, the phone's expected retail price in Indian rupees (INR) remains unconfirmed. Details about available variants and their prices are also awaited.

With features such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, dual 200MP cameras, a secondary rear display and a 7,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could become an interesting addition to the flagship smartphone market. However, its final specifications, pricing and position against competing smartphones will become clear only after Xiaomi makes an official announcement.
