In May, Udaipur experienced record-breaking temperatures, with the mercury surpassing 40 degrees. Despite the intense heat, tourism in the city was not affected. A total of 106,510 tourists visited the city in May, including 103,500 domestic and 3,010 foreign tourists. While many cities in the state faced temperatures up to 50 degrees in May, Udaipur remained the coolest city after Mount Abu.
Typically, the number of tourists decreases in May due to the heat compared to April. However, this year, there was an increase. In April, 102,209 tourists visited, while May saw 4,001 more, totaling 106,510.
This marks the fifth consecutive month this year with over 100,000 tourists visiting Lake City. In May 2023, similar high numbers were recorded. Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena, highlighted that over 100,000 tourists visiting in May is a positive sign. The hotel industry’s various packages have contributed to this increase. New records are anticipated during the monsoon season.
