Airport authority of India (AAI) has started the process of taking over offices of Jet Airways at different airports in the country. Udaipur office of the defunct airlines has been taken over by AAI while the Kolkata office has been sealed.

AAI has also revoked entry passes of Jet employees at multiple airports from May 10. The airports where these passes have been revoked included Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jamnagar, Jabalpur, Kandla, Khajuraho, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara.

AAI, which manages 125 airports in the country, has asked all airports to get the space allotted to Jet Airways vacated and to submit a progress report on the same.

AAI officials noted that, “Of the 125 airports, Jet have occupied office space at nearly 35-40 airports. The airports will stop billing Jet Airways once they vacate their offices. It is a waste of an asset. Their articles can be kept at the premises and as and when, they resume operations, they can take that space back”.

It may be noted that Jet Airways had stopped operations from 17-Apr after the lenders had invited bids for Jet Airways. The deadline for bidding ended on Friday, 10-May.
