Himmatnagar-Asarva DEMU will run 6 days a week

No firm date is known towards date of completion of gauge conversion work up to Udaipur

In a bid to improve connectivity and its first phase, the Indian Railways launched a pair of DEMU trains between Asarwa (Ahmedabad) to Himmatnagar covering a distance of 75 Kms

Readers may recall that Udaipur-Ahmedabad rail connection was terminated on 31 December 2016 to pave way for gauge conversion from Meter gauge to Broad gauge. Work related to gauge conversion is in progress and it may take time to complete the same, especially to construct some long tunnels between Dungarpur and Udaipur.

However, In a bid to improve connectivity and its first phase, the Indian Railways launched a pair of DEMU trains between Asarwa (Ahmedabad) to Himmatnagar covering a distance of 75 Kms.

DEMU Train number 79402 Himmatnagar-Asarva DEMU will depart from Himmatnagar at 6:00AM and arrive Asarva at 8:20AM; six days a week except Sundays. Further, train number 79404 Himmatnagar-Asarva DEMU will depart from Himmatnagar at 4:30PM and arrive Asarva at 6:50PM six days in a week.

Train number 79401 Asarva-Himmatnagar DEMU will depart from Asarva at 8:35AM and arrive in Himmatnagar at 10:55AM, excepting Sundays. While, the train number 79403 Asarva-Himmatnagar DEMU will depart from Asarva at 7:00PM and arrive in Himmatnagar at 9:20PM, except on Saturdays.

Passengers of Mewar belt will have to wait for completion work. Some RTIs were raised on Indian Railways on the matter but No firm date is known towards completion of gauge conversion work up to Udaipur. Here, it is felt that a committed Railways could have completed work with little extra efforts and present introduction of two DEMU trains could have been extended up to Dungarpur.
