Indian Railways is set to launch the third Vande Bharat train, which will soon start running on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.The upgraded Vande Bharat train demonstrates improved acceleration and deceleration, reaching speeds of 160 kmph within a mere 140 seconds.This enhancement will trim travel time by around 45 minutes compared to previous versions, resulting in a journey completion of approximately 5 hours and 25 minutes. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, this newest train has recently undergone a thorough 15,000 km trial run to ensure it meets the highest standards.

Timetable and Stations

The newest train will operate six days a week, with the exception of Sundays. Departing from Ahmedabad at 06:10 am, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express (train number 22962) is slated to reach Mumbai Central by 11:35 am.The return trip (train number 22961) from Mumbai Central will start at 15:55 pm and finish in Ahmedabad at 21:25 pm, with intermediate stops at different stations throughout the journey. The journey will include stops at: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Borivali, Mumbai Central.

Characteristics of the train 

  • The aim is to provide enhanced safety and comfort features, elevating the travel experience on the already esteemed Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.
  • The train will showcase a chic blue and white color scheme and will be furnished with air-conditioned seating in both standard and executive classes. Additionally, it will incorporate enhanced air conditioning systems with improved compressors and UV lamps to provide germ-free air.
  • Media reports indicate that upgrades have been made to the Coach Control Management System to enhance monitoring and feedback, thereby guaranteeing smooth operations. Each coach is installed with a 32-inch screen for passenger information along with improved flood-resistant capabilities.
