June 25, 2025 - Air India has slashed 5% of its domestic flight operations until mid-July. It has announced a temporary reduction of services on 19 domestic routes and a suspension of services on three others - two international and one domestic.
The suspended routes are Bengaluru-Singapore; Pune-Singapore and Mumbai-Bagdogra.
This decision follows an earlier move to cut 15% of its international wide-body flight operations after the tragic crash in Ahmedabad on June 12 which killed 241 on board and several others on the ground.
The airline has said normal services will resume soon though no reason was given for this cut in operations. The reasons could be additional checks and maintenance of its fleet, cancellations and closure of airspace owing to the Middle East conflict.
Airlines like IndiGo and Akasa Air are likely to benefit from Air India’s decision.
