Air India has received the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) Design Organisation Approval (DOA), making it the first Indian airline authorized to independently design and implement modifications for its aircraft interiors.

This certification, also known as CAR 21, will allow Air India to carry out improvements to its aircraft interiors faster and more efficiently.

The DOA certificate was presented to Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, by DGCA Director General D.C. Sharma on October 25, 2024. This milestone partnership aims to enhance Air India's operations by adopting advanced digital thread solutions and intelligent Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) practices, setting a new standard for efficiency in Indian aviation.
