Air India introduced 'Fare Lock' on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 a feature that allows passengers to reserve a selected fare for 48 hours. This service is intended to provide travelers with more flexibility and ease in planning their journeys. According to the airline, this new feature allows travelers to reserve their fare for two days for a nominal, fixed fee as they finalize their travel plans. Both the website and the app will provide access to the new feature.

The process for accessing the feature?

To take advantage of this feature, customers need to pick their desired flight options while booking process and activate the Fare Lock. A modest non-refundable fee is required, ensuring that the price remains secure. Following that, customers can navigate to the "manage booking" section to verify the rate they had previously chosen.

Air India's fee structure includes a Rs 500 charge for domestic flights, an Rs 850 fee for short-haul international flights departing from India, and a $10 fee for flights arriving in the country. As stated by the airline, travelers will be charged Rs 1,500 for longer international flights departing from India, and $18 for arrivals into the country. The airline mentioned that the fees for securing prices will differ based on the routes.

Customers can now plan their trips without worrying about unexpected fare changes or availability issues for their preferred flights. As per the airline's official statement, the feature can be accessed for flight options reserved with a minimum of 10 days' advance booking.
