Air India Plane Skids Off Runway at Mumbai; All Safe

July 21, 2025 – An Air India flight AI-2744 from Kochi had a runway excursion after touchdown at the Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) today, July 21, morning at around 9:27 am. Owing to heavy rain during landing, the aircraft overshot the runway after touchdown but was able to taxi safely to the parking bay.

All passengers and crew are okay and were able to disembark safely, said airport sources.

The A320 aircraft skidded off Runway 27 after touchdown but owing to deceleration, it was unable to remain on the runway and veered 16 to 17 metres off the runway. It went on to unpaved area and then onto a taxiway before stopping.

The aircraft suffered minor damages as also the. As per reports, three tyres of the aircraft burst after it veered off course.

The airport’s primary runway suffered some damages and has been closed. The secondary runway has been opened to traffic, according to airport authorities.
