May 9, 2025 – In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, airlines have issued new travel advisories for passengers. Security measures have been enhanced at airports across the country following a directive issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Air India and Akasa Airlines have requested passengers to arrive at least three hours prior to their departure time to avoid delays because of increased security checks. Check in will close 75 minutes before departure.

Similar advisories have been issued by IndiGo and SpiceJet.

Meanwhile, Delhi Airport has informed that even though flight operations remain normal there may be disruption in some services owing to airspace changes and enhanced security protocols.

"Delhi Airport operations remain normal. Some flights are impacted due to changing airspace conditions and heightened security. Please check with your airlines for the latest updates. Avoid sharing unverified information," a statement from the airport authorities on X read.

BCAS has issued a directive to all airlines and airports across the country to increase security measures, according to sources. Security is being tightened at all airports after Pakistani drones were detected near Jammu airport last evening.

Sources say that as per the order, no visitors will be allowed into terminal buildings and Air Marshal will be deployed accordingly.

Passengers at all airports will have to undergo a Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC). SLPC is a secondary-level security check which is carried out by the airlines' staff just before the passengers board the aircraft. They are frisked and their hand baggage is scanned. This is in addition to the primary security check done by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) are monitoring flight operations across the country.
