April 13, 2026 - The Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 will commence on July 3, 2026, and will conclude on August 28, 2026, spanning a total of 57 days. This was announced after a meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).

Every year, thousands of devotees from across the country undertake this pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath Cave.

According to the J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, this year mandatory registration for the pilgrimage will begin on April 15, 2026, with both online or offline options. Registration fee of Rs 150 per person has been fixed.

Pilgrims can register online through the official SASB website, the mobile app “Shri Amarnathji Yatra” or through designated bank branches across the country (SBI, PNB, Yes Bank, ICICI Bank or Axis Bank).

Eligibility age for pilgrim registration is from 13 to 70 years. A Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued on or after April 8, 2026, is mandatory. Online applicants must upload a scanned copy of the CHC along with a passport-size photograph.

Pilgrims can choose between two routes for the darshan of Baba Amarnath Barfani:

  • The traditional 48-kilometre Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district
  • The shorter but more challenging 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal district

The Pratham Puja, to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, will be held on June 29, 2026, on the occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima.
