The fortress is a landmark of Kufstein and cultural highlight of the state of Tyrol and bears testament to the town’s lively history over the centuries. The glass ‘Maximilian lift’ transports visitors direct to the heart of the Josefsburg. In addition to its exhibitions and Kufstein Local History Museum, the fortress is also home to the world’s largest outdoor organ.

The fascinating history of this fortress town is reflected in Kufstein’s old town, on the Römerhofgasse: the traditional houses and monument to Karl Ganzer, the composer of the world-famous Kufstein song ‘Die Perle Tirols,’ are among the special features. Shopping centres and shops invite guests to stroll around the town centre and pedestrian zone.  You can while away the evening in one of the cosy Tyrolean inns with a glass of wine, ideally drinking from one of the world-famous Riedel glasses which are hand-blown in Kufstein.

Visitors can watch the glass-blowers at work at Kufstein’s show glass factory and with the aid of visual and acoustic supports as well as learning all about the art of glass-making and the 11 generations of this company.
