The said Train # 22901, will soon ply on a daily basis and will operate through Ahmedabad and run till Chittorgarh
Udaipur, March 25, 2025: The Bandra - Udaipur Express (Train #22901) that operates between Bandra (Mumbai) and Udaipur and runs via Chittorgarh three times a week will soon run through Ahmedabad. The train will now ply on a daily basis and reach Udaipur from Bandra via Ahmedabad, and operate till Chittorgarh, via Mavli. This change in route and schedule will enhance connectivity and save considerable time for passengers plying between Udaipur and Mumbai.
Instructions to Conduct a Survey
The decision was taken in the form of an instruction letter written by the Union Minister for Railways, Ashwani Vaishnaw, to the Directorate. He issued these instructions at the behest of Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat, who has been following up with the Ministry on a regular basis to make these amendments. Mannalal Rawat, in his latest correspondence with the Union Minister, requested the Ministry to deliberate on these amendements. In response, the Union Minister has written to the Udaipur MP that the conerned Directorate has been instructed to conduct a detailed survey and investigation in the matter as well as other demands made by the MP.
As per the letter to the Directorate from the Ministry, the Train number 22901 Bandra Terminus - Udaipur City Superfast Express, which is currently running via Chittorgarh, 3 days a week, will soon be re-routed via Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Mavli and Chittorgarh and this train will be operated daily.
Requests from MP to the Ministry
Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat has written a letter to the Union Minister to enhance direct rail connectivity between South Rajasthan and the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. In addition to the existing train between Bandra and Udaipur, the MP also asked for an additional train to be operated from Dadar (West) to Chittorgarh, via Udaipur. He also demanded that the Gujarat Mail (12901) Dadar to Ahmedabad, be extended to Udaipur and Chittorgarh, because the train is stationed at Ahmedabad for 17 hours, before it returns to Dadar.
He also demanded that the Lok Shakti Express, that operates between Bandra and Ahmedabad and is stationed at Ahmedabad for 1t6 hours before returning, be extended till Chittogarh via Udaipur. He also added that additional coaches be added in the Udaipur - Asarwa express and to extend the Vande Bharat from Udaipur to Ahmedabad till Surat.
