Banswara tourism is going strong on the acclerator, with efforts to promote Island Tourism in this Mewar Vagad division taking shape. A meeting of the administrative stakeholders in this context was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commission Dr. Neeraj Pawan at Chachakota on 17 January.
There is immense tourism potential in the region and this initiative augurs well for the area as intense efforts to boost Island Tourism will put Banswara on the global holiday map. The discussions in the meeting were around these points and many suggestions such as Destination Wedding Island, Resort Island, Tent Island, Water Sports Island and Adventure Island were discussed.
Suggestions are also being welcomed from stakeholders in the general public to make this initiative more inclusive in nature. The residents of the various villages in Banswara division, have been suggesting the idea of running boats in the water bodies in this area.
The structured approach to implement this plan is taking shape, with the District Tourism Officer Anil Talwadia taking suggestions on a detailed action plan to promote tourism in the area. Suggestions include forming a local safety committee; providing life jackets; naming the islands based on Ramayana; making island routes; building a resort in the middle of the water on the lines of Jag Mandir and Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur and Jaisamand Island Resort; widening access roads; inviting suggestions from and empanelling wedding planners; making an aquarium among others.
Apart from the Div Commissioner and DIstrict Tourism Officer, the other members present in the meeting included the District Collector of Banswara, Dr. Indijit Yadav, Sarpanch Deepchand, Dy Sarpanch Ramanlal, Conservator of Forests Jignesh Sharma, CEO of Banswara Nagar Nigam VC Garg, Sup Engg of Mahi Vikesh Mehta, Bharat Kansawar, Yash Saraf, Deepesh Sharma, Nathulal and othe department officials.
