Bawal-Behror RRTS Rail Corridor: Early Approval Sought

Sept 2, 2026 - A meeting to review the Supplementary Detailed Project Report (Supplementary DPR) for the Bawal-Behror section of the Delhi-Gurugram-Rewari-Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor under the Namo Bharat Rail Corridor Project was held at the State Secretariat in Jaipur on Wednesday, September 2, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary V. Srinivas.
The meeting discussed various aspects related to the in-principle approval of the State Government based on the report received from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
Chief Secretary Srinivas directed the concerned departments to coordinate with one another and promptly forward the Supplementary DPR to the relevant departments for approval. He also instructed officials to obtain approval from the competent authorities and send the State Government's in-principle approval to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs at the earliest.
He said the project would play an important role in strengthening regional connectivity and accelerating industrial and economic activities in the area.
During the meeting, officials informed that the proposed rail corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Behror will have a total length of 129.05 km, of which 25.16 km will fall within Rajasthan. Four elevated stations are proposed in Rajasthan, including Shahjahanpur, Neemrana and Behror.
The estimated cost of the Bawal-Behror section is Rs 7,747 crore. This includes a basic project cost of Rs 5,167.28 crore, approximately Rs 640 crore for land acquisition, and Rs 1,861 crore in enterprise funds.
Officials also discussed the proposal for the cost of the section from Bawal to the Rajasthan-Haryana border to be shared by both States, as well as the execution of the Memorandum of Understanding received from the Haryana government.
