Udaipur, February 6, 2025 - Rajasthan Roadways is set to restart bus services on rural routes that have been discontinued for the past eight years. Due to the absence of these buses, rural residents have been traveling in overcrowded jeeps and private buses. In Udaipur, 22 routes have been designated. A total of 365 buses will be introduced across Rajasthan. Roadways has invited tenders until March 3, 2025, after which the buses will start operating under a contract.

One Bus Per Route in Udaipur
Each route in Udaipur will have one bus, running 2 to 4 trips daily. Each bus will have a seating capacity of 22 passengers. Earlier, 30 buses served rural routes in Udaipur, carrying 5,000 to 7,000 passengers daily.
At present, Udaipur Roadways has 80 buses, serving around 14,000 passengers daily. The depot generates around Rs 33 to Rs 34 lakh in revenue each day. The plan to restart rural bus services was prepared in October last year, and a report was sent to the headquarters in November.

New Routes to Cover Tribal Areas
Several tribal areas will be included in the new bus routes. Services will also extend to the Khokhar border on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border and Kumbhalgarh in Rajsamand.
Currently, no Rajasthan Roadways bus runs directly from Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh. The new service will provide an affordable travel option for tourists visiting the area.
