Udaipur, February 12, 2025 - Doubling of the Udaipur-Kota railway line via Chanderia should be carried out and a Vande Bharat train should be introduced from Mewar to Surat via Ahmedabad. A call for fulfilment of these requirements were made yesterday in the Lok Sabha by CP Joshi, Chittorgarh Member of Parliament (MP), during Zero Hour.

The MP explained that if doubling of the railway line from Udaipur through Chanderia to Kota is done, it will open new avenues for development in the region. This will also save time spent by passengers and freight trains waiting at various stations for crossings. Additionally, operation of new trains from this route will be easier.

Railway doubling is expanding a single railway track into a double track. It is also known as "duplication" and allows for more trains to operate simultaneously.
