Call for Extension of Udaipur–Ratlam Train to Bhopal
During a public hearing in Udaipur, MP Dr Manna Lal Rawat received suggestions to extend the Ratlam–Udaipur train to Bhopal, improve schedules and expand railway connectivity including routes benefiting pilgrims
Udaipur, March 9, 2026 - Member of Parliament Dr Manna Lal Rawat held a public hearing on Saturday (March 7) at the MP Service Centre located in the District Council premises. During the hearing, several representations were submitted regarding railway services.
Among the demands raised was a request to change the schedule of the Udaipur–Ratlam train and the introduction of a new railway service connecting Udaipur with South India.
The Ajmer–Sealdah–Ajmer train (via Parasnath Sammed Shikhar pilgrimage site) is stationed at Ajmer railway station for around 11 hours daily. It was suggested that this train should be extended to Udaipur, which would benefit thousands of Jain devotees from nearby districts travelling to the pilgrimage site.
The Lok Shakti Express, which runs daily between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, arrives in Ahmedabad at 4:20 am and departs for Mumbai at 8:45 pm, remaining stationed in Ahmedabad for more than 16 hours. It was proposed that its schedule be optimised for better utilisation.
The Ratlam–Udaipur–Ratlam Express (19327/19328) currently reaches Udaipur at 11:35 pm and departs at 1:35 am. Due to the inconvenient schedule, the train reportedly runs with very low passenger occupancy. It was suggested that if the departure time from Udaipur is changed to 6:00 am and the train is extended up to Bhopal, it could become far more useful for passengers.
