Call to Extend Udaipur-Asarva Vande Bharat to Surat
Rail and hotel associations in Mewar demand extension of the Udaipur-Asarva Vande Bharat train to Surat and Mumbai to boost trade, tourism and passenger convenience
Udaipur, Feb 12, 2026 - The Rail Sangharsh Samiti Mewar and the Hotel Association have called for the extension of the proposed Vande Bharat train between Udaipur and Asarva (Ahmedabad) up to Surat. They say that doing so would benefit trade, tourism and passengers.
The Vande Bharat train from Udaipur to Asarva is scheduled to start from February 16.
Praveen Dak from Rail Sangharsh Samiti Mewar said that extending the train up to Surat would provide additional benefits by enabling traders, students and tourists to travel long distances in less time.
Rajesh Agrawal, Senior vice-president of the Hotel Association, said that the number of visitors coming to Udaipur from Gujarat would increase, and passengers travelling to Ahmedabad would also benefit. He also urged that the train not only be extended to Surat but further on to Mumbai.
