The Udaipur Municipal Corporation has commissioned luxury buses to ply between the city limits of Udaipur and the Maharana Pratap Airport at Dabok.

These buses will begin to operate once the formal orders to proceed are received from the Jaipur headquarters.

As per the AEN Lakhanlal Bairwa, officer-in-charge of UCTSL, the buses will ply between Pahadi Bus Stand (Chetak Circle) and Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok. The route covered will be Pahadi Bus Stand, Chetak Circle, Court Circle, Delhi Gate, Surajpol, Fateh School, Kumharon ka Bhatta, MB College, BN College, Sevashram, Thokar Chauraha, Sundervas, Pratapnagar, VIdhyaapeeth, Transport Nagar, Hindustan Zinc, Debari Power House, Dabok and Airport. This initial route will be reviewed after the first few days, to assess the stoppage and these will be adjusted according to the passenger movement.

The route, which is a distance of 23 km will be covered in a period of 1.5 hours. Usually a trip from the city centre to airport takes around 30 minutes by taxi, but again speed has its own costs. The charge of a taxi service from Airport till Fatehpura (24 km) is Rs. 450. The bus service will charge Rs 45 per person for a one way trip, which is 10% of the taxi fare. So if a passenger is accompanied by a relative to see him / her off, the total trip will cost Rs 150 instead of Rs 900 in the taxi.

The bus service initial testing was done by the UCTSL in the presence of members of the UMC and the Airport Director Nandita Bhatt. As per the initial rate chart, Rs 10 will be charged for a distance of up to 3km; Rs. 15 will be charged for a distance of up to 5km; Rs. 20 will be charged for a distance of up to 10km; Rs. 30 will be charged for a distance of up to 15 km and Rs. 40 will be charged for a distance upto 20km.
