CM Pushes to Speed Up Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam Rail Line

191 km new rail line to connect Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

Udaipur, 10 September 10, 2025 - Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed officials at the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to expedite the new Dungarpur-Ratlam via Banswara railway project. He has instructed railway officials to complete the land acquisition work for this new rail line at the earliest through mutual coordination. CM Sharma also stressed on accelerating coordination with the Central government regarding financial resources and technical requirements and instructed regular monitoring of the project's progress.

The total length of this railway line will be 191 kms, of which 143 kms will fall in Rajasthan and 48 kms in Madhya Pradesh.

Although this project was started five years ago, work came to a halt during 2018-2019 and restarted in August 2024. Construction on the Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam rail line faced a hurdle in April 2025 when farmers from Nejpur village in Dungarpur district protested on-site, opposing construction on their land without receiving compensation. The farmers warned that no further work would be allowed until compensation was provided.

Dungarpur is an important station on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad broad-gauge line. If it is connected to Banswara and Ratlam, it will significantly enhance rail connectivity for the people of the Vagad region.
