Cockroach Scare on Air India Flight; Airline Apologises

Aug 5, 2025 - Passengers on Flight AI 180 from San Francisco to Mumbai via Kolkata complained of spotting cockroaches near their seats mid-flight. A statement issued by the airline on August 4 said two passengers were “unfortunately” bothered by the presence of a “few small cockroaches on board”.

The passengers were relocated to other seats. And deep cleaning of the aircraft was done by the ground crew during the flight’s stoppage at Kolkata. A probe has been ordered by the airline into the incident.

Air India explained the presence of the pests saying, "Despite our regular fumigation efforts, insects can sometimes enter an aircraft during ground operations" and apologised for “any inconvenience caused to the passengers”.
