Despite a scorching summer that Udaipur faced this year, the water levels in lakes are at a fairly decent level giving hope for yet another season of water overflows. Pretty much all the significant lakes of Udaipur are currently reporting water level which is decently above the “zero level” mark meaning that if there is a good starting spell then we could see a season long overflow cycle this year.

Lake Fatehsagar, with a overflow mark of 14 feet is currently at 6.3 feet. Feeder bodies of Fatehsagar are also at positive level with Bada Madar at 9 feet (full capacity: 24 ft) and Chhota Madar at 2.5 feet (full capacity: 21 ft). Lake Pichola is currently at 7 feet and has a maximum capacity of 11 feet. Post breaching the 11 feet mark, water from Pichola also starts feeding into Fatehsagar till it reaches 11 ft mark.

Lake Jaisamand with a full capacity of 27.5 feet is currently at 16 feet. Lake Udaisagar is currently at 10 feet 7 inches and has full capacity of 24 feet.

Lake Badi, which overflew last year after a break of 11 years is currently at 21 feet. Being just 11 feet shy of full capacity, there is expectation that we might witness Lake Badi overflow again this year.

Devas first phase dam is at 4 feet while Lake Goverdhan Sagar is at 5 feet.
