Udaipur, December 12, 2024 - The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is a big project, 1,386 km long, connecting Delhi to Mumbai. It is designed as an eight-lane highway and is being built in parts called "packages."

Progress in Rajasthan

• Rajasthan’s portion of the expressway is 373 km long.
• Out of this, 327 km are complete and open for traffic. Vehicles can use these sections by paying tolls.
• 46 km of the expressway is still under construction.

Reasons for Delay

Package 10 (26 km):

• Includes an animal underpass.
• Almost complete and waiting for approval to open for traffic.

Package 14 (8 km):

• Includes a long, 5-km tunnel.
• Expected to be completed by December 2025.

Package 9 (12 km): Connectivity issues have delayed its opening near Dausa.

Current Route for Vehicles

• Vehicles coming from Delhi have to exit the expressway near Sawai Madhopur.
• They travel on other highways (like the Kota-Lalsot Mega Highway) for 60 km to reach Laban.
• From Laban, they rejoin the expressway and travel 80 km to Mandana.
• After Mandana, they switch to National Highway 52 near Dara Ghati, re-enter the expressway near Chechat, and continue.

Future Improvements

To avoid traffic near Kota, the Public Works Department (PWD) is building an underpass and improving roads in the Dara Ghati region. Once these are completed, vehicles will no longer need to pass through Kota.

This means most of the Rajasthan stretch is ready for use, but a few sections still need finishing work.
