MP Mannalal Rawat met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday, July 25,2024 to discuss the expansion of rail facilities in the Mewar-Vagad region. They also talked about resolving other railway-related issues.

MP Rawat highlighted Udaipur's importance as a major tourist destination. He emphasized the need for improved rail connectivity to attract more tourists.

Public Demands

• Increase the frequency of existing trains.
• Introduce new trains from Udaipur.
• Enhance connectivity between Udaipur and other cities.

Requests Made

•  Increase the frequency of existing trains.
• Start new train services from Udaipur.
• Establish new railway lines.
• Extend services from Ajmer to Udaipur.
• Connect Udaipur to South India via Ahmedabad.
• Enhance facilities at Udaipur City Railway Station for public convenience.
• Provide booking facilities at Jaisamand Road.
• Add stops for express trains at Surkhand Ka Khera Station and other major stations in the region.
• School Reconstruction: MP Rawat also sought permission for reconstructing the government school within the Railway Training Institute premises in Udaipur.

The Demand for Extending These Trains and Adding Other Facilities

• The Udaipur-Yog Nagari Rishikesh train (19609/10) currently runs three days a week. It should be extended to Dehradun and operated daily. Additionally, it is necessary to increase the number of coaches for this train. 
• The Udaipur Bandra Terminus train (22902/01) is currently running three days a week. It should be made regular. 
• The Kota Asarva Express train (19821/22) is currently running two days a week. It should be run four days a week. 
• The Ajmer-Jammu Tawi train (12413) is currently operating from Ajmer. It should be extended to Udaipur.
• The Ajmer-Chandigarh Garib Rath (12983) is currently operating from Ajmer. It should be extended to Udaipur. 
• The Udaipur-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Chetak Express train (20474/73) should be extended to Dungarpur, providing direct rail connectivity to Delhi for the people of the tribal regions of southern Rajasthan. 
• The schedule of trains from Udaipur to Ahmedabad should be adjusted to ensure timely rail connectivity with trains from Ahmedabad to Gandhidham, Bhuj, Bangalore, Chennai, and other parts of South India.
• A direct train service from Udaipur to Mumbai via Ahmedabad is needed to facilitate quicker travel to Mumbai. This will save both time and money for passengers.
• A train should be operated in the morning from Udaipur to Kota for students.
• Due to the presence of the High Court in Jodhpur, there is a need to start train services from Udaipur to Jodhpur and Bikaner.
• A train should be operated from the religious site Nathdwara to Mumbai via Udaipur. Considering its religious significance, a train should also be operated from Udaipur to Ayodhya and Kashi via Reengus and Khatu Shyamji.
• The timing of the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat train should be changed to increase passenger numbers.
• The general train running from Udaipur to Madar, Chittorgarh, and Ratlam is currently charging an express train fare. It should be charged at the same rate as a regular train.
