March 12, 2026 - Rajsamand Member of Parliament (MP) Mahima Kumari Mewar met the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at his office in New Delhi and held a detailed discussion on several important issues related to railway expansion in the Rajsamand Lok Sabha constituency and the Mewar region.

During the meeting, the MP urged the Railway Minister to start a daily direct train from Udaipur to Mumbai via Ahmedabad. She pointed out that a large number of people from the Mewar region live in Mumbai and currently have to rely on road travel owing to the lack of a direct rail connection.

Additionally, she emphasised the need to strengthen intra-State railway connectivity in Rajasthan. She said that better rail connectivity between cities within the State would not only benefit passengers but also boost tourism, trade and regional development.

The discussion also included the need to enhance inter-State railway connectivity, which would further strengthen Rajasthan’s links with other States.

The MP sought information about the progress of the broad gauge railway line from Devgarh to Madariya. She said that once this project is completed, the Mewar region will be directly connected to Marwar, providing significant convenience for people travelling between the regions.

MP Mahima also proposed developing the railway line from Kankroli to Bhilwara as a broad gauge line, which would further strengthen railway connectivity in the region.

She requested a change in the return timing of the Veerbhumi Express 19316, which operates from Indore. She explained that the train currently arrives very early in the morning, making it difficult for passengers to find transportation to reach their destinations. Therefore, a practical change in its schedule is necessary.

The Rajsamand MP also proposed renaming Kankroli Railway Station to Rajsamand, which the Railway Minister assured would be examined for feasibility after discussions with officials.

Furthermore, she suggested that all trains currently terminating at Mavli Junction railway station be extended to Mandiyana (Nathdwara). This would make travel easier for pilgrims and tourists visiting Nathdwara and help boost tourism in Rajsamand district.

Minister Vaishnaw listened to all the issues raised by the MP and has assured that the proposals would be reviewed with the concerned officials.
