DGCA Suspends Four Officials After IndiGo Flight Disruptions

Senior inspectors suspended for 'negligence' as DGCA deploys teams to monitor refunds and airline operations

 |

Dec12, 2025 - The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended four of its officials on the back of the massive IndiGo flight disruptions last week. These flight operations inspectors, or FOIs, are senior members of the DGCA who were responsible for overseeing regulatory and safety operations of IndiGo flights. The reason behind this action is being seen as negligence in inspection and monitoring of the airline.

In the meantime, the DGCA has deployed two teams tasked with monitoring the crisis-hit airline including speeding up refunds, compensations, etc., as well as crew utilisation and fleet operations. The teams have to submit a daily report to the DGCA by 6:00 pm.

Last week, the entire country was plunged into a major chaoas as IndiGo cancelled thousands of flights leaving passengers stranded across airports. The widespread crisis prompted the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the DGCA to step in with severe measures to stabilise the situation including curtailing IndiGo's daily flight operations by 10% till things returned to normalcy.
